,

.

,

2

In his July 8 letter, Mr. Bunting stated that the sole property owner
affected by this revision was notified and has no objections.

A LOMR was issued on the same date as this letter for the unincorporated
areas of E1 Paso County, Colorado, to incorporate the results of the above-
mentioned hydraulic analyses into the FIRM for that community.

The modifications are 8hown on the enclosed annotated copy of FIRM Panel
0168 C; Profile Panels 198P, 199P, and 200P; and the F100dway Data Tab1e'for
Sand Creek. This LOMR hereby revises this panel of the effective FIRM dated
September 30, 1992, and the Flood Profiles in the FIS report dated
September 30, 1992. Because of the channel improvements, the stream length
has been shortened. To account for the difference, an equality is shown on
Profile Panel 200P.

The name of the railroad shown on effective Profile Panel 198P was changed
from Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad to the Colorado and Eastern
Railroad to agree with the information shown on FIRM Panel 0168 C. The name
of the railroad was confirmed by Mr. Bunting during a telephone conversation
with a representative of our Technical Evaluation Contractor .on August 12,
1994.

The following table i8 a partial listing of existing and modified BFEs:

Location

Existing BFE
(feet)*

Modified BFE
(feet)*

Just upstream of Colorado and
Eastern Railroad
Approximately 2,500 feet upstream
of Colorado and Eastern
Railroad
Approximately 3,000 feet upstream
of North Carefree Circle

6,390

6,390

6,422

6,426
6,527

6,527**

*Referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum, rounded to the nearest
whole foot
**Prior to channel improvements, this distance was approximately 10,900 fiet
upstream of the Colorado and Eastern Railroad.

Public notification of the revised BFEs will be given in the Gazette
Te1ellraph on or about September 8 and September 15, 1994. A copy of this
notification is enclosed. Any request for reconsideration must be based on
scientific or technical data. In addition, a notice of changes will be
published in the Federal Rellister. We encourage you to supplement this
notification by preparing an article for publication in your community
newspaper. This article 8hou1d de8cribe the changes that have been made and
the assistance your community will give in providing data and interpreting
the NFIP maps. Because this LOMR will not be printed and distributed to
primary users, such as local insurance agents and mortgage lenders, your
community will serve a8 a repository for the new data.
