Purpose and Scope This floodplain information report has been prepared to identify floodplain areas along the Mancos River through Mancos, and along Chic~en Creek north of Mancos. Flood hazards and future flood damages can be minimized by local officials using this report as a guide. This report includes information on historical floods, existing factors which influence the floodhazard,and the nature and extent of future floods. 7. Selected street Olrofiles showing reco:ll1lendations on regrading the streets. 8. Typical street cross sections which may be constructed in Mancos. Supporting engineering and hydraulic data included in the Technical Addendum supplement this,report. The data in the Technical Addendum may also be used inthelocationanddesignofroads.bridges,andchannelmodifications. Also. the report presents recommendations for improver-ents for the local drain- age system. Concepts have been identified to provide positive drainage and eliminate ponding and localized poor drainage, characteristic of the present drainage system. The reCOrmlendations can be implemented by the city crews and are minimal in size and cost. 3.
