Completion Of Permit Review <br />When a local floodplain administrator completes their review of a <br />development permit application, he may approve the permit, con. <br />ditionally approve the permit, or deny it. <br />If a permit application describes a development that will be built in <br />compliance with floodplain regulations, the locai floodplain administrator <br />may give his approval simply by marking the appropriate box on the <br />application form, signing it, and providing a copy to the applicant. <br />If the permit application describes a development that would be in <br />violation of the fioodplain ordinance, the local administrator may con, <br />ditionally approve the application if the applicant agrees to modify the <br />development. In cases where minor modifications will bring an applica- <br />tion into compliance with the ordinance, the local administrator should <br />work with the appiicant to modify problem aspects of the development. <br />When a permit application is in serious violation of the floodplain <br />ordinance, the local fioodplain administrator must deny the permit and <br />should explain to the applicant why it was denied, <br /> <br />B. Applicant's Options <br />If an applicant is denied a permit, he has three options, <br />1, He may design the development so that it meets standards; <br />2, If he feels the administrator is in error, he may appeal the decision <br />to the local governing body; or <br />3, If he feels the ordinance places an undue hardship on the prop' <br />erty, he may request a variance to the ordinance, <br /> <br />15 <br />
