Completion Of Permit Review
When a local floodplain administrator completes their review of a
development permit application, he may approve the permit, con.
ditionally approve the permit, or deny it.
If a permit application describes a development that will be built in
compliance with floodplain regulations, the locai floodplain administrator
may give his approval simply by marking the appropriate box on the
application form, signing it, and providing a copy to the applicant.
If the permit application describes a development that would be in
violation of the fioodplain ordinance, the local administrator may con,
ditionally approve the application if the applicant agrees to modify the
development. In cases where minor modifications will bring an applica-
tion into compliance with the ordinance, the local administrator should
work with the appiicant to modify problem aspects of the development.
When a permit application is in serious violation of the floodplain
ordinance, the local fioodplain administrator must deny the permit and
should explain to the applicant why it was denied,

B. Applicant's Options
If an applicant is denied a permit, he has three options,
1, He may design the development so that it meets standards;
2, If he feels the administrator is in error, he may appeal the decision
to the local governing body; or
3, If he feels the ordinance places an undue hardship on the prop'
erty, he may request a variance to the ordinance,

15
