<br />FLOOD INSURANCE STUDY <br />CITY OF CENTRAL CITY, GILPIN COUNTY, COLORADO <br /> <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />1.1 Purpose of Study <br /> <br />This Flood Insurance Study revi ses and updates a previous Flood <br />Insurance Rate Map for the City of Central City, Gilpin County, <br />Colorado. This information will be used by the City of Central <br />City to update existing floodplain regulations as part of the <br />Regular Phase of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The <br />information will also be used by local and regional planners to <br />further promote sound land use and floodplain development. <br /> <br />In some states or conrnunities, floodplain management criteria or <br />regulations may exist that are more restrictive or comprehensive <br />than the minimum Federal requirements. In such cases, the more <br />restrictive criteria take precedence and the State (or other <br />jurisdictional agency) will be able to explain them. <br /> <br />1.2 Authority and Acknowledgments <br /> <br />The sources of authori ty <br />National Flood Insurance <br />Protection Act of 1973. <br /> <br />for thi s Flood Insurance Study are the <br />Act of 1968 and the Flood Disaster <br /> <br />The hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for this study were performed <br />by Rocky Mountain Consultants, Inc., for the City of Central City, <br />This study was completed in June 1992. <br /> <br />1.3 Coordination <br /> <br />On December 14, 1984, a meeting was held for the City of Central <br />City, and attended by representatives of the Federal Emergency <br />Management Agency (FEMA) and the City. FEMA recollllDended that the <br />City of Central City be converted to the Regular Phase of the NFIP. <br />The existing Flood Hazard Boundary Map was converted to a Flood <br />Insurance Rate Map on March 1, 1986. <br /> <br />2.0 AREA STUDIED <br /> <br />2.1 Scope of Study <br /> <br />This Flood Insurance Study covers the incorporated areas of the <br />City of Central City, Gilpin County, Colorado. <br /> <br />The areas studied by detailed <br />gi ven to all known flood <br />development. <br /> <br />methods were selected with priority <br />hazards and areas of projected <br />
