FLOOD INSURANCE STUDY

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Purpose of Study

This Flood Insurance Stud'y report revises and updates a previous
Flood Insurance Study/Flood Insurance Rate Hap for the City of
Broomfield, in Adams, Boulder, and Jefferson Counties, Colorado.
This information will be used by Broomfield to update existing
floodplain regulations as part of the Regular Phase of the National
Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The information will also be used
by local and regional planners to further promote sound land use
and floodplain development.

In some states or cOllllllUnities, floodplain management criteria or
regulations may exist that are more restrictive or comprehensive
than the minimum Federal requirements. In such cases, the more
restrictive criteria take precedence and the State (or other
jurisdictional agency) will be able to explain them.

The hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for this revised study were
performed by Greiner Engineering Sciences, Inc., Denver, Colorado,
for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), under Contract
No. EMW-83-C-11-73. This study was completed in March 1985.

1.3 Coordination

The initial coordination meeting was held in the City of Broomfield
on April 26, 1983. This meeting, attended by representatives of
the City of Broomfield, Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB),
Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (UDFCD), and study
contractor, was held to discuss the nature and purpose of the study
and the scope and limits of work.
