HYDRAULIC MODELING PROCESS

Hydraulics for the basin were evaluated using the V,S, Army Corps of Engineers HEC-RAS
model. HEC-RAS uses the standard step method to calculate water surface profiles,

Subcritical flow was assumed for the hydraulic analysis of the basin, Storage effects are not

considered within HEC-RAS, However, storage is accounted for behind embankments during

the hydrologic computations performed in HMS, Flowrates are adjusted in HEC-RAS to

represent the effects of this storage,

The model schematic used in HEC-RAS is similar to that used in HMS, Flowrates at various

design points are taken from HMS and inserted into the corresponding location in the hydraulic

model. The Stub Ditch along its entire length within the watershed and the main stem of Bosley

Wash from the Stub Ditch to the Colorado River were modeled.

-
,Qt"n."""
. - ~
t ~
..,;....j;;.~i~\f~11,:-

~il~~...=,~'1flmt!iUh;:;:Rr~;_~;5tf;,i;y4:;(0->J<
,-......
( ,
~

-

'. ~-~.-
_',"d'C

liI{

~
.

Page 18
