1.0 INTRODUCTION , as stated in Section 30_28_111 and 31-23_301 of the Colorado Revised Statutes. 1.1 purpose Therefore. upon Official approval of this report by the Colorado Water Conservation Board. the areas described as being inundated by the IOO-year flood can be designated as approximate flood hazard areas and their use regulated accordingly by Costilla County. This report was prepared to guide local officials in planning the use and regulation Of the floodplain areas such that flood hazards and future flood damagcs are minimized. It includes information on historical floods, existing factors Which influence the flood hazard. and the nature and extent of probable future floods. 1.3 Ac~nowledqments The report data consist of floodplain delineation maps Showing the approximate IOO-year flood boundary. A supplement to this report in the form of a technical addendum includes the supporting engineering and hydrologic data which may also be used in the location and design of roads. bridges and channel modifications.
