<br />6.0 FLOOD INSURANCE RATE MAP <br /> <br />The Flood Insurance Rate Map is de~igned for flood insurance and <br />floodplain management applications. <br /> <br />For flood insurance applications, the map designates flood insurance rate <br />zones as described in Section 5.0 and, dn the 100-year floodpLains that <br />were studied by detailed methods, shows selected whole-foot base flood <br />elevations. Insurance agents use the zones and base flood elevations in <br />conjunction with information on structures and their contents to assign <br />premium rates for flood insurance po1ici~s. <br /> <br />For floodplain management applications, 'the map shows by tints, screens, <br />and symbols, the 100- and 500-year floodplains, floodways, and locations <br />of selected cross sections used in the: hydraulic analyses and floodway <br />computations. . <br /> <br />7.0 OTHER STUDIES <br /> <br />This revised study for the South Platte:River floodplain is in agreement <br />with the hydraulic reanalyses conducted :by Wright Water Engineers, Inc., <br />for the UDFCD, completed in September' 1987 (Reference 13). The re- <br />analysis- extended from Sand Creek upstr~am to Bear Creek and included a <br />2.3-mile' reach of the South Platte River :through Commerce City. <br /> <br />This revised Flood Insurance Study includes results of the 1984 revised <br />hydraulic analysis, based on new topographic information, for the reach <br />of Sand Creek between Brighton and Vasquez Boulevards (Reference 18). <br /> <br />The South Platte River hydraulic reanalysis also included portions of the <br />unincorporated areas of Adams County and the ci ty and County of Denver. <br />This revised Flood Insurance Study for Cbmmerce City will be in agreement <br />with the revised Flood Insurance Study for the City and County of Denver <br />and the revised Flood Insurance Study 'for the unincorporated areas of <br />Adams County. <br /> <br />This revised study is authoritative for' purposes of the NFIP; the data <br />supercedes or are compatible with all previously published flood hazard <br />information for Commerce City. <br /> <br />8.0 LOCATION OF DATA <br /> <br />Information concerning the pertinent data used in the preparation of this <br />study can be obtained by contacting the ~atural and Technological Hazards <br />Division, FEMA, Denver Federal Center, ~uilding 710, Box 25267, Denver, <br />Colorado 80225-0267. <br /> <br />18 <br />
