DIRTY WOMAN/CRYSTAL CREEK <br /> <br />9.1. Watershed Description <br /> <br />Dirty Woman Creek is located due east of the town of Monument. Colorado, As shown in <br />Figure 9.1. the majority of the 5,O-square mile watershed lies east of 1-25, Row in the stream is in a <br />southwesterly directly; it accumulates in several small tributaries before consolidating Into a single <br />channel just prior to crossing under 1-25, <br /> <br />The highest elevation for the watershed Is just over 7.500 feet, The low point at the western <br />outfall is 6.800 feet. Slopes within the basin range from just over 8 percent at the higher elevations to <br />3 to 4 percent in the flattest areas, <br /> <br />The Crystal Creek watershed is located northeast of the town on Monument. adjacent to Dirty <br />Woman Creek, More than 85 percent of the basin is east of 1-25 as shown in Figure 9,1, The creek <br />generally flows south to 1-25 where it makes a bend and then continues in a more westerly direction. <br /> <br />Total area of the basin is 0,78 square mile, Average slopes are from 4 to 5 percent with steeper <br />slopes up to 15 percent occurring on the western hillslopes, The highest point in the northeastern <br />corner is 7.500 feet. The lowest elevation just west of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad (D&RG) is <br />at 6,960 feet. Total length of the creek from its headwaters to this point is approximately 2,5 miles, <br /> <br />Development in this watershed is primarily residential, Individual lots are large. ranging from <br />1 to 5 acres over much of the basin, There is a substantial amount of open space throughout. part of <br />which is attributed to the Wood moor Golf Course, Soils throughout the basins of the loamy and <br />category and tend to be highly permeable, They are hydrologically classified as type "B" soils. <br /> <br />9,1 Resource Consultants & Engineers.
