CHAPTER II
GENERAL STUDY AREA DESCRIPTION

A. Study Area

The Hidden Lake basin and the adjacent Bates Lake basin, which have been

the subject of this study, are north side tributaries of Clear Creek. The

basin locations and boundaries are shown on Figures 11-1 and 11-2. The

basin(s) description and numbering, as set forth in the Project Reuse, "Drainage

Basin Descriptions, Sub-basin Delineation and Summaries", is as follows:

Hidden Lake
(Mayham Lake)

Ba tes La ke
(Part of)

1-01-4304-01
A = 2.2 sq. mi.
L = 3.98 mi.
LCA = 2.01 mi.
S = 0.0198

1-01-4300-03
A = 3.63 sq. mi.
L = 2.65 mi.
LCA = 1. 44 mi.
S = 0.0057

The upper portion of Bates Lake basin was actually mapped in the Project
Reuse Study as part of another segment of the Clear Creek main stem basin.
The early phases of this study on the combined basin, Hidden Lake and
Bates Lake plus the intervening area, clarified the basin boundaries and
allowed delineation as shown on Figure 11-2. The revised basin description
for Hidden Lake, as defined by this study, is as follows:

Hidden Lake
(Mayham Lake)

1-01-4304-01
A = 3.08 sq. mi.
L = 4.46 mi.
LCA = 2.46 mi.
S = 0.0205
