It is required that
a landscape plan be developed by a licensed Landscape Architect
and that an annual watering schedule, showing seasonai water
requirements, be a part of the plan.

Drought Tolerant Plant List

The Drought Tolerant Plant List is not included in the Standard
Plans due to its length. The list is available from EMA Develop-
ment Services at a cost for printing. The Drought Tolerant Plant
List identifies those plans which the Orange County Environmental
Management Agency has determined are drought tolerant.

Drouoht Tolerance
-

In order to clarify terms,
in the County's Drought

the following classifications are used
Tolerant Plant List:

Plant Type

Inches/Yr.*

Acre Ft. /Yr . *

No Summer Water Plants (NSW)
Low Summer Water Plants (LSW)

o
1-24

o
2

* The amount of water needed beyond winter rainfall to maintain
established plants.

Availability of Plant Material

Plant availability was not a factor in compiling the list. It is
hoped that there will be more incentive to propagate material not
available today. It shall be the responsibility of the Landscape
Archi tect to verify availabili ty of plant material before
specifying.

Use of Plant List

Selection from the list for site suitability is the responsibility
of the Landscape Architect preparing the plans. Plans are to be
in compl iance wi th the Fire Marshal and rev iewed and approved by
EMA.

-45-

. I ' ,
t;'lJ hi f

-1
