<br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Purpose <br /> <br />The purpose of this study is to present the hydrologic and <br /> <br /> <br />meteorologic analysis made in support of the Metropolitan Denver <br /> <br />and South Platte River and Tributaries Study and Flood Hazard <br /> <br /> <br />Evaluations for a portion of the South Platte River in the State <br /> <br />of Colorado. The study begins at Chatfield Dam and extends to <br /> <br /> <br />the Colorado-Nebraska State line. A hydrology report on the <br /> <br /> <br />reach from Chatfield to West Hampden Avenue was included in <br /> <br /> <br />Volume II of Supplement No. I, Design Memorandum No. PC-20, <br /> <br /> <br />Downstream Channel Improvement, Chatfield Dam and Lake, South <br /> <br /> <br />Platte River, Colorado, December 1976, and will not be presented <br /> <br /> <br />in this report. <br /> <br />Basin Description <br /> <br />The South Platte River basin originates along the eastern <br /> <br /> <br />slope of the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountain Range of <br /> <br /> <br />North Central Colorado. The drainage area of the basin at the <br /> <br /> <br />Colorado-Nebraska State line is about 23,000 square miles. Of <br /> <br />. <br />
