<br />In order that the required report may fully cover the matter, PUBLJD
<br />HEARIlI'GS will be held at Dodge City, Y.ansas, in the auditorium of the
<br />Junior High School at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 1, 1950, and at Pueblo.."

<br />All interested parties are invited to be present or represented at
<br />either or both of the hearings, including representatives of Federal, State,
<br />county, and municipal agencies; commercial, industrial, civic, highway,
<br />railroad, and flood-control interests; and property owners concerned. They
<br />will be afforded full opportunity to express their present views concerning
<br />the character and extent of al~ improvement desired and the need and advis-
<br />ability of its execution. Sponsors of improvements are urged to present
<br />pertinent factual material bearing on the general plans desired and the
<br />economic juotification of the undertaking. Opposing interosts, if any, are
<br />also urged to state the reasons for their position.

<br />Up-to-date information is desired to supplement data presented at pre-
<br />vious hearings held by the Albuquerque Dis'trict Engilleer at Pueblo, Colorado,
<br />and Dodge'City, Kansas, on March 20, 1941!., and March 22, 19lJ:4,-respectively;--
<br />as to the number and magnitUde of floods; areas overflowed; state of develop-
<br />ment of the area subject to flooding; character and amow1t of flood damages,
<br />such as interruption of traffic, crop losses, and structure losses; loss of
<br />life due to floods; major drainage and sediment problems; and any other data
<br />available as to the flood problems in the Arkansas River Basin above the
<br />mouth of 17alnut Creek, Kansas. It is .also desired that information be pre,.'
<br />sented as to the type of improvement believed to be the best suited to al-
<br />leviate the flood problems; location and extent of desired improvements; tbe
<br />merits of each proposed plan; and the possible change in land use if flood
<br />protection is provided.
