Olson:

In response to your letter of October 3, 1975 regarding the
Flood Insurance Study for the unincorporated areas of Adams County,
J have the following comments:

1. You requested technical comments. You will appreciate
that we would need more technical data than just the flood
boundary and floodway maps, and the flood profiles before
we could comment in depth.

2. Flood profile differences from Volume III Summary
Report, Bear and Clear Creeks, South Platte Basin, by
USACE, January, 1966, are not of great concern to us
because of the many changes that have taken place along
Clear Creek in the last ten years that affect them. It
is for the most part, outdated, but should be used as a
check where there are large differences.

3. We appreciate your cooperation in getting separate
maps for floodways.

4 It is my understandinq that the maps (Scale 1" = 400')
have been enlarqed from 1:/.4000 USGS quad sheets and that
other data has been added to the maps. Accuracy will, of
course be no better than that of the quad sheets. Perhaps
the maDS or the study should have the notation that the
maps do not meet national map accuracy standards. A ref-
erence to the scale at which maps meet national map accuracy
standards would be of value.

5. Large scale detailed maps with small interval contours
are hiqhly desirable for regulatory purposes. Mapping needed
