The purpose of Mr. Garcia's visit was to review the administration of the county's Floodplain Management Program. Both departments were very re- ceptive to Mr. Garcia's visit, for which we are most appreciative. Mr. Garcia determined that the County had an effective floodplain ordi- nance and capable staff, but determined that the areas to which the ordinance applied were not inclusive of all areas identified as flood- prone on the County's Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM). In a letter to you dated July 28, 1980, Mr Garcia asked the Board of County Commissioners to respond to two specific questions about the jurisdiction to which the County's floodplain regulations apply. To date, no response has been received. Specifically, we are concerned as to what action the County will take to apply regulations to all areas shown on our FIRM. Your planning staff is aware of the details regarding this matter and can provide you with any needed background. We are also available to comment publically if further information is needed. If you would be so kind as to respond to our July 28 letter, we will then be assured that the County is in full compliance with the requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program.
