The study involved: (1) review of existing
hydrologic, hydraulic, erosion and sedimentation information, (2) determina-
tion of existing and potential flooding problems in the study reach,
(3) evaluation of potential erosion and sedimentation problems, (4) formula-
tion of flood control alternative plans, (5) evaluation of alternative plans
considering operation and maintenance, environmental factors, and economics,
(6) participation in public meetings to present the study results, and
(7) preparation of a final report documenting the methodology used for analy-
sis and the study results.
Hydrologic analysis utilil<ed hydrographs prepared by the pima County
Department of Transportation and Flood Control District. Hydraulic analysis
for as-is conditions and alternative plans utilized the HEC-2 water surface
profiles computer program developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Erosion and sedimentation analysis employed qualitative channel morphology,
engineering geomorphology, and sediment routing, using procedures developed by
Simons and Li (1979). Alternative plans included channelil<ation, a levee
system, or a combination of channelil<ation and levee system.
Project Period: September 1981 through April 1981
Project Budget: $20,000
Reference: Frank M.
