Please extend my greetings to Army Engineers <br />and assure them that mrd fight will be made in Congress in <br />behalf of Conejos River and Wagon WheelGap Projects. so that they <br />may receive substantial flood control grants to supplement local <br />and federal irrigation finances". <br /> <br />I have a statement here propared by Mr. H. W. Martin. City <br />Atterney of Monte Vista. Colorado. (Statement is attached and <br />marked Exhibit 15.) <br /> <br />I also have a stat0ment from Mr. John Gredig. who was one <br />of the original settlers in Del Norte and probably One of the <br />first in the San Luis Valley.. Mr. Gredig explains the injuries <br />incident to floods above Del Norte. (Statement attac~ed hereto and <br />mark0d Exhibit 16.) I havo a statement prepared by Mr. Thomas <br />Carr. Water Cemmissioner for this District. (Statemont attached <br />and marked Exhibit 17.) <br /> <br />There is also submittod a statement of Mr. H. S. Tyrel. former <br />Rio Grande County Road Supervisor. Ho tells us of the 1927 flood <br />and its consequences. (Statement attached and marked Exhibit 18.) <br /> <br />I will present excerpts from the San Juan Prospector. the <br />Alamosa Courier, the Independent Journal. the Monte Vista; 30llI'Ilal. <br />and other newspapers regarding past floods, which is very interosting <br />information. (Excerpts marked Exhibit 19.) <br />
