<br />Dear John:

<br />In response to our meeting of April 7, 1981, we are
<br />submitting the following information reviewing the
<br />current status of the Jamestown Flood Insurance
<br />Study.
<br />
<br />Since completion of the Flood Hazard Analysis
<br />conducted by the Corps of Engineers last July,
<br />discrepancies have been noted in the discharges
<br />presented in each report. After a thorough
<br />examination of the data presented in each study a
<br />revision was made to our original calculations.
<br />Theses revisions consisted of modifications to the
<br />times of concentration used in the TR-20 hydrology
<br />program. Times of concentration have now been
<br />computed using Manning's equation instead of the
<br />generalized graphs presented in Soil Conservation
<br />Service Technical Release No. 55. This resulted in
<br />discharges for a 100-year storm that are similar to
<br />those determined by the Corps of Engineers.
<br />Discharges at selected design points are presented in
<br />the following table.
