<br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />ACKNOWLEDGMENTS <br /> <br />This study was requested by the CWCB (Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board) to help optimize boater safety and sediment <br />sluicing at the Union Avenue Dam on the South Platte River. <br />Dr. Ronald Rossmiller and Mr. Robert Ferguson of Wright Water ..........._ ...........$ <br />Engineers, Inc., were the . L -of the project. 1'Fiey were <br />instrumental in guiding the model study investigations and <br />coordinating contacts and demonstrations for all parties involved <br />In the study. Mr. Roger Weidelman from the Bureau of <br />Reclamation Great Plains Region coordinated the agreement with <br />CWCB under Reclamation's Assistance to States program. <br /> <br />The team conducting the study from the Hydraulics Branch, <br />Bureau of Reclamation, was comprised of Clifford A. Pugh, Head, <br />Hydraulic Equipment Section; Cassie Klumpp, Hydraulics <br />Engineer; and Jerry R. Fitzwater, CIvD Engineering Technician. <br /> <br />The laboratory shops did an excellent job of constructing the <br />model. Most of the photographs in this report were taken by <br />Mr. Wayne Lambert, staff photographer. <br /> <br />Mission: As the Nallon's principal conservation agency, the <br />Department of the Interior has responsibility for most of our <br />nationally owned publiC lands and natural and cultural <br />resources. This includes fostering wise use of our land and <br />water resources, protecting our fish and wildlne, preserving <br />the environmental and cultural values of our national parks <br />and historical places, and providing for the enjoyment of life <br />through outdoor recreation. The Department assesses our <br />energy and mineral resources and works to assure that their <br />development is in the best interests of all our people. The <br />Department also promotes the goals of the Take Pride in <br />America campaign by encouraging stewardship and c~izen <br />responsibility for the public lands and promoting citizen <br />participation in their care.
