When It was angled away <br />from the wall, more boats veered into the wall. <br /> <br />Gary recommended that the Une of rocles be moved as far to the left as possible for <br />safety purposes. Boaters that get flipped out of the boat need to have a landing spot <br />In water. <br /> <br />Rossml11er and Lacy suggested that the area between the inner wall and the guide <br />rocles on tile right side of the chute be tilled In with smlllTerroclesand grouted so <br />that all the flow would be directed towards the center of the chute. <br /> <br />Lacy asleed about reducing the cost of the roc Ie on the existing dam face by moving <br />the point where the 3:1 slope begins upstream to the downstream end of the line of <br />rocles. Cliff said this seemed feasible because the sand was covering the down- <br />stream portion of the large rocles now. Rossmiller asleed if this deeper water at the <br />downstream end of the chute itself would change any of the flow patterns we observe <br />now. Cliff could not answer this question positively but the consensus was that the <br />flow patterns would tend to remain the same as they are now. <br /> <br />CHANGE NO.2 <br />The two-stepped sill In the center of the chute worleed well throuohout the range of <br />flows from 100 cfs to 800 cfs. The guide rocles upstream which narrows the chute <br />width from 32 feet to 20 feet create the central surface wave. The proposed sill <br />reduces the height of the wave so that boaters will have a smoother ride. This will <br />answer the concerns of Scott and Ben of the UDFCD. <br /> <br />The stepped sl11 was a thin metal plate bent into the proper shape which was some- <br />what narrower than the central 8-foot wide notch. Rossml11er suggested that the <br />s11l be feathered Into the chute cross section to eliminate the secondary flow pat- <br />terns caused by the present width of the sl11. <br />
