P"x 190
Hayden, Colorado 81639

COllllllunity: Town of Hayden,
Colorado
Community No.: 080157
Panel Affected: 0001 B
Effective Date of
This Revision: FEB 22 1994

102-D

Dear Mayor Roberts:

This is in response to a request for a reVU10n to the effective Flood
Insurance Study and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) map for your
cOllllllunity. Specifically, this responds to a letter dated September 24, 1993,
from Mr. Doug Bradfield, P.E., civil Design Consultants, Inc., regarding the
effective Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for the Town of Hayden, Colorado.
Mr. Bradfield requested that we revise the effective FIRM to show the effects
of the construction of the "Hayden Floodway" channel and Walker Ditch
Wastegate projects to reduce flooding caused by Shelton and Walker Ditches.
In addition, the corporate limits for the Town of Hayden have been updated to
include an area annexed by the Town of Hayden from Routt County, Colorado, in
December 1986. All of the data required to complete our review of this
request were submitted by Mr. Bradfield with letters dated September 24,
November 30, and December 21, 1993.

Because this Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) shows the effects
sponsored flood-control project that reduces flooding
development, fees were not assessed for the review.

of a publicly
to existing

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown
on the effective FIRM, and have revised the FIRM to modify the floodplain
boundary delineations of a flood having a 1-percent probability of being
equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood). The constructed channel
and wastegate projects contain the 100-year flood discharge and conveys the
flow along the eastern side of Shelton Lane from a point 800 feet south of
the intersection of Shelton Lane and Washington Avenue to Lincoln Avenue.
The channel then redirects the flow along the northern side of Lincoln Avenue
until it leaves the community and passes beneath the Denver and Rio Grande
Western Railroad just north of the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and pine
Street. The Special Flood Hazard Area has been eliminated between Shelton
Lane and Poplar Street because of the decreased flows in Shelton and Walker
Ditches.

The modification is shown on the enclosed annotated copy of FIRM Panel
0001 B. This LOMR hereby revises this panel of the effective FIRM dated
June 1, 1978.
