Cherry Creek near Franktown streamflow-gaging station (0671~:00), which is located
about 2.5 miles south of Franktown: a.) Photograph showing downstream view of paleoflood
reach and 1933 dam-failure flood deposits (PSI) with rod held level with the top of PSis for
cross section located about 500 feet downstream from the gage; and b.) graph of channel cross
section. The highest paleostage indicator is constrained by un eroded, old colluvium and a flood-
deposited boulder bar (-700 x 300 x >10 feet) deposited by the 19~;3 dam-failure flood. The
largest surface boulders are more than 6 feet in diameter; 1933 f1o,xl-transported boulders
more than 25 feet in diameter are located upstream and downstream from this paleoflood site.
The range of peak discharge is 30,000 to 44,000 ft3/S.
