5.3 Flood Insurance Zones After the determination of reaches and their respective Flood Hazard Factors, the entire incorporated area of the Town of Redcliff was divided into zones, each having a s~)ecific flood potential or hazard. Each zone was assigned one of the followiing flood insurance zone designations: Zone AD: Special Flood Hazard Areas inundated by types of lOa-year shallow flooding where depths are between 1.0 and 3.0 feet; depths are shown, but no Flood Haza~d Factors are determinod. Zone A2: Special Flood Hazard i\reas inundated by the lOO-year flood, determined by detailed methods; base flood elevations shown, and zones subdiviued according to Flood Hazard Factors. Zone B: Areas between the Special Flood Hazard Areas and the limits of the SOQ-year flood, including areas of the SOQ-year flood plain that are protected from the lOO-year flood by dike, levee, or other water control structure; also areas subject to certain types of lOO-year shallow flooding where depths are less than 1.0 foot; and areas subject to lOO-year flooding from sources with drainage areas less than 1 square mile. Zone B is not subdivided. Zone c: Areas of minimal flooding. The flood elevation ance zones, and base studied in detail in differences, Flood Hazard Factors, fluod insur- flood elevations for each flooding source the community are summarized in Table 3. 5.4 Flood Insurance Rate Map Description The Flood Insurance Rate Map for the Town of Redcliff is, for insur- ance purposes, the principal result of the Flood Insurance Study. This map (published separately) contains the official delineation of flood insurance zones and base flood elevation lines. Base flood elevation lines show the locations of the expected whole-foot water- surface elevations of the base (IOO-year) flood. This map is developed in accordance with the latest flood insurance map preparation guide- lines pUblished by the Federal Insurance Administration. 14
