SOURCES OF INFilTRATION VALUES

9.1 SCS Soil Surveys- County Soil Survey maps from the SCS provide the most accurate
means of determining soil types for a basin. Once a composite soil type for an area is
determined. infiltration rates can be estimated for the given soil texture classes.

9.2 Missouri River Framework Study- As part of the Missouri River Framework Study,
generalized soil infiltration maps were developed for the entire South Platte River Basin.

9.3 Previous Studies- Previous studies for a watershed or a nearby watershed can also
provide an excellent source of information in determining infiltration rates for a given basin.

Colorado Flood
Hydrology Manual

DRAFT

7.23
