to the Hickory-Jackson ditch near the intersection of U.S. 285
and Coop Road. Drainage from the area west of Murphy Drive ex-
tended should be directed to the Hickory-Jackson ditch near
Coop Road and Murphy Drive extended. The exception is the area
between 7th Street and Bth Street west of Murphy Road extended,
which contains the runoff within the development.

a. Area West of Murphy Drive Extended

There are no plans in this area for improvements for there are
no problems currently. Development should be guided so as to
prevent building within the sump areas. Detention and/or re-
tention ponds can control excessive runoff from flooding new
and existing development. Consideration should be given for
the area near Chico Street between Craft Drive and Murphy Drive
to outlet either to the Hickory-Jackson ditch or to the improve-
ments in Basin I, providing the flows in Basin I are not in-
creased.

b. Area East of Murphy Drive Extended

A pipe is proposed in the U.S. 285 right-of-way from the
Hickory-Jackson ditch to the north near 7th Street at La Veta
Avenue extended. This will relieve the ponding in this area.
Laterals are proposed for the low area at the sale barn and the
low area between U.S. 285 and Railroad Avenue. Inlets are re-
quired at each lateral and along the main line. Where curb and
gutters do not exist, special inlets are required.
