Profiles for the 10- and 100-year <br />floods, and data describing the floodway are also provided. <br />The study has been prepared in sufficient detail to allow the <br />planning of new subdivisions and buildings with knowledge of <br />channel and flood plain characteristics. <br /> <br />The Weaver Creek drainage basin lies within the boundaries of <br /> <br />Jefferson County <1nd the City of Lakewood_~ as shown on the <br />Basin map included \vith the drawings of this report. Land is <br />being subdivided and channel improvements are being made at a <br />rapid rate between the Hogback Ridge and U. S. Highway 21:35. <br />The primary objective of this study is to prepare flood plain <br />maps so the local governments can implement flood plain <br />zoning ordinances to reduce potential flood damages ond <br />unwise development in tl-le flood plairl. ~he City and County o[ <br />Denver originaLly requested that Urban Drainage and Flood <br />Control District undertake this flood hazard area delineation <br />when a portion of the developing area was withen Denver. <br />Subsequent court action forcccl deannexation of thi s area, and <br />presently none of the basin is within Denver. <br /> <br />Data Collection <br /> <br />In[ormation was <br /> <br />from a number of <br /> <br />agencies <br />agencies <br /> <br />duri ng the course of thi s study <br />and local entities. The following <br />contacted, and the information <br /> <br />collected <br /> <br />summarizes the <br /> <br />obtainted. <br /> <br />I' <br />,.or <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, wlder <br />dated December 18,1975. Prior to utilization <br /> <br /> <br />of the report for planning or design purposes, the user <br /> <br /> <br />is advised to contact the Urban Drainage and Flood <br /> <br /> <br />Control District or the Colorado Water Conservation <br /> <br /> <br />Board to determine if the information in this report has <br /> <br /> <br />been amended." <br /> <br />Th~ hydr()~ogic and hy,,~t-uulic portions of thi s study were <br />undertClken by Leonard Rice Consulting Water F.l1gineers, Tnc. <br /> <br />c:ontract <br /> <br />mapping and field survey dat8 for t~ crossing structures was <br />prepared by Merrick and Company, under separate contract with <br />the District. An amendment to Chi,:> contract, dated December <br />28,1979, provided for revision of the hydraulic portion of <br />the study for the reach from Simms Street to Eldridge Street. <br />This was done to account for channel improvements constructed <br />in this reach.
