<br />reasonableness. One way is to check the results against recent flood <br /> <br />events. A final word on this topic. Figure V-12 was taken from the <br /> <br />1984 HEC Users Manual. The dotted line shows the damage-frequency <br /> <br /> <br />curve plotted by the HEC program from the nine input points. Note <br /> <br /> <br />that for segment AB, the curves coincide; for segment CD, they almost <br /> <br /> <br />coincide; but that for segment BC, there is a wide disparity. By <br /> <br />inspection, the segment generated by the program does not seem to <br /> <br />represent the best fit between points Band C. It appears that a <br /> <br />better fit would be a curve somewhere between the hand and computer <br /> <br />computations. This bias in the computer computations could be the <br /> <br />determining factor in project feasibility. The planner would be <br /> <br />justified in making an adjustment to the curve and to EAD in this <br /> <br />analysis. Note, however, that this cannot be done without careful <br /> <br />examination of the output. <br /> <br />V-62 <br />
