WHEREAS, a report entitled "Flood Plain Information,
Drainage Plan and S,treet Improvement Plan a.t M.illiken, Colorado,"
which. includes floodplain information and data for the Western
Flow pat.h, the Lola Park tributary, aM' the Eastern Flow Path of
the Milliken Watershed , . dated October, 1982, has been prepaJ;"i!d by
Simons, Li & Associates, Inc., under contact with the Town of
Milliken.; and .

WHEREAS, said report descr ibes and' outlines the
floodplain data and information for the> storm and, floodwater
. runoff channels or bas ins of the studY area; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Milliken has requested the Colorado
Water Conservation' Board to designate and approve the floodplain
areas as set forth in the aforesaid report; ahd

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes
. 1973, requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in
the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom~ and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions. may provide zoning requlationsfor land. uses on' or
along any storm or. floodwater runoff channel or basin only afte)::
designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conse.rvation
Board, and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate
and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to
make'such designations available to. legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS, the staf f of the Board has rev iewed said report and
does hereby recommend to the Colorado Water Conservation Board
that the Board des ignate and approve as floodplain a.reas those
areas inundated by a laO-year flood (intermediate regional flood)
as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in
said report;
