The 1983 SCS study reflected the prior construction by the
SCS of flood control facilities for both Boxelder Creek and Coal Creek.

We request that CWCB staff review the Flood Insurance Study for designation and approval at
the CWCB's regular meeting scheduled for March 29-30, 1999, Subject to the findings of the
CWCB staff review, we request that the Colorado Water Conservation Board designate the
detailed floodplain information contained in the Flood Insurance Study revised October 20,
, 1998, We a!se request that the Co!oradc Water Conservation Boarci reaffirm the fact that the
detailed info.mation contained in the December 3, 1993 Flood Insurance Study for Coal Creek
does not reflect the effects of the flood control improvements constructed by the USDA Soil
Conservation Service on Coal Creek and is, therefore, invalid, Since the ] 993 Flood Insurance
Study has been superseded by the 1998 Flood Insurance Study, we request that the Colorado
Water Conservation Board rescind the previous designation of the 1993 Flood Insurance Study,

Please call myself or Donald Irwin, Mayor. at (970) 568-3381 if you have any questions about
our request for designation and approvaL

~~

Kevin Burke
Town Admilllstrator

RECEIVED
~~R 23 1999

~ctt) "~MlSl
~1i"" Boord
