Box 239
Gunnison, Colorado 81230

Dear Mayor Decker:

This is to formally notify you of the final flood elevation determination
for the City of Gunnison, Gunnison County, ColoradO, in compliance with Part
67, Chapter I, Title 44, Code of Federal Regulations. This section requires
that notice of final flood elevations shall be sent to the community's Chief
Executive Officer, all individual appellants, and the state coordinating agency,
and shall be published in the Federal Register.

On May 14, 1981, your community was provided copies of the Flood Insurance
Study and Draft Flood Insurance Rate Maps for information and review. Those
documents notified the community of the proposed base flood elevations. which
were subsequently published in Gunnison Country Times on May 21, 1981 and
May 28, 1981.

Within the ninety-day appeal period provided for in Section 110 of the Fl00d
Disaster Protection Act of 1973, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
has not received any appeals of the proposed base fl00d elevations from officials
or individual residents of your community. Other appeals or inquiries which
FEMA may have received regarding data other than the base fl00d elevations
will be resolved before the Flood Insurance Study and Fl00d Insurance Rate
Map (FIRM) become effective. Accordingly, the determination of the Agency
as to the base flood elevations for your community is considered final. The
final base flood elevations are identical to the proposed base fl00d elevations
published in the above-mentioned newspaper and the Federal Reqister at 46FR
30117 on June 5, 1981. The final base flood elevations will be published
again in the Federal Register as soon as possible, and they are reflected
in the enclosed proof copies of the Flood Insurance Study and copies of the
FIRM which you should receive within one week from Camp, Dresser and McKee
in Denver, Colorado. The FIRM will become effective six months from the date
of this letter. Before the effective date, FEMA will send you final printed
copies of the FIRM and Study.
