Specifically, this responds to a letter of transmittal dated
August 5, 1994, from Mr. Steve Smith, Swift and Associates, regarding the
effective FIS report and Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for the City of
Longmont, Colorado. With his transmittal, Mr. Smith submitted additional
data in support of his July 18, 1994, request for a Letter of Map Revision
(LOMR). Mr. Smith requested that we revise the effective FIRM to show the
effects of the construction of a side channel to the north of the existing
channel along Lefthand Creek from approximately 2,400 feet downstream of
Hover Road to just downstream of Hover Road. This request follows up on a
Conditional Letter of Map Revision, which was issued on February 17, 1994.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with
Mr. Smith's July l8, July 25, and August 5, 1994, letters of transmittal and
a facsimile transmittal dated August 4, 1994. All fees necessary to process
this LOMR, a total of $2,930, have been received.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown
on the effective FIRM, and have revised the FIRM to modify the elevations and
floodplain boundary delineations of a flood having a 1-percent probability of
being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along Lefthand Creek
from just upstream of Pike Road to approximately 700 feet upstream of Hover
Road. As a result of this project, the base (lOO-year) flood elevations
(BFEs) will increase by a maximum of 2.0 feet approximately 200 feet upstream
of Hover Road. The Special Flood Hazard Area increases between Hover Road
and approximately 2,300 feet downstream of Hover Road.

In letters dated October 4 and December 27, 1993, Mr. Peter Swift, P.E.,
Swift and Associates, certified that no insurable structures are affected by
the increase in the BFE.
