1.3 Coordination

As a result of correspondence between the regional office of FEMA,
the Colorado Water Conservation Board, and the Town of Limon,
it was decided that a Flood Insurance Study be prepared for Limon.

The final community coordination meeting was held on December 1,
1983, and was attended by representatives of FEMA, the study con-
tractor, and the town. No problems were raised at the meeting.

2.0 AREA STUDIED

2.1 Scope of Study

This Flood Insurance Study covers the incorporated areas of the
Town of Limon, Lincoln County, Colorado. The area of study is
shown on the Vicinity Map (Figure 1).

Main, East, Middle, and West Tributaries and Big Sandy Creek were
studied by detailed methods.

The areas studied by detailed methods were selected based on the
extent and validity of available hydrologic and hydraulic data.

2.2 Community Description

Limon is located in northwestern Lincoln County, in east-central
Colorado, and is completely surrounded by unincorporated Lincoln
County land.
