Gingery

On this date, the above parties met with Mr. Lang of the
State of Colorado Watcr Conscrvation Board to discuss w]lat
could be done to instigate a flood hazard study of the
Crystal Rivcr, Slate Creek and Carbonate Creek. Mr. Muller
started the discussion by introducing some of the develop-
meut plans of the MrHble Ski Area surrounding the three
drainagcways prcviously mentioned. Mr. Lang wanted to be
assured that c1evelopli'ent is really going to happen. I
assured him that Hith the ne\V management team, we are plan-
niug 1'0 r cleve 10pmGn t to really s tart to roll during the
summer of 197if. ;']1'. L;mg suggested that a meeting between
the County Commissioners, the Town of Marble and the Marble
Metropolitan District would be in order to point out drainage
problems of the HilYble area and determine if the Town of Marble
\Voulc1 request such a flood hazard study. Mr. Hamilton \ViII
inquire of the Mayor ef Marhle, to determine if such a meeting
could be held during t];c; regular City Council Meeting of the
Tm.n on SeptemlJer 7. If this can be arranged, Mr. Lang will
make himself av,'i lable fOT the meeting to explain how such a
flood hazard study could be handled. Also, Mr. Lang would indi-
ca te whi ch agencies an" avai lab Ie, and how soon such a study can
be accomplished.

Mr. Lang painted out that the City of Aspen in June of this year,
has received their Flood Plain Information Study prepared by the
Department of the Arl11;', Corps of Engineers, Sacramento, California.
Such a study is invaluable at this stage of the project befoTe
serious development is undertaken. If accomplished by a sep"C"ate,
independent governmental body, such a study tends to encourage
cnoperatLon amo;lg all local agencies involved in the development.

C:':lL f~~GU';[E,.\!~:.~~

L/,~i() SIJ:tVC:Y ,,"J

STorU,\ DI~:AI:-.jAGE

STRUCTU,1Al

lRANSPORTATION

WATER & SA~HTAnON
