Gingery

On this date, the above parties met with Mr. Lang of the
State of Colorado Water Conservation Board to discuss what
could be done to instigate a flood hazard study of the
Crystal River, Slate Creek and Carbonate Creek. Nr. Muller
started the discussion by introducing some of the develop-
ment pla~of the Marble Ski Area surrounding the three
drainageways previously mentioned. Mr. Lang wanted to be
assured that development is really going to happen. I
assured him that with the new management team, we are plan-
ning for development to really start to roll during the
summer of 1974. Mr. Lang suggested that a meeting bet1{een
the County Commissioners, the Town of Marble and the Marble
Metropolitan District would be in order to point out drainage
problems of the Marble area and determine if the Town of Marble
would request such a flood hazard study. Mr. Hamilton will
inquire of the Mayor of Marble, to determine if such a meeting
could be held during the regular City Council Meeting of the
Town on September 7. If this can be arranged, Mr. Lang will
make himself available for the meeting to explain how such a
flood hazard study could be handled. Also, Mr. Lang would indi-
cate which agencies are available, and how soon such a study can
be ,accomplished.

Mr. Lang pointed out that the City of Aspen in June of this year,
has received their Flood Plain Information Study prepared by the
Department of the Army, Corps of Engineers, Sacramento, California.
Such a study is invaluable at this stage of the project before
serious development is undertaken. If accomplished by a separate,
independent governmental body, such a study tends to encourage
cooperation among all local agencies involved in the devclop~cnt.

CIVIL ENGINHRJNG I lAND SW~VEYING I STORM DRAINAGE I ST~UCTUP.:Al I TRANSPORTAilON I WAT~R & SANITAi~ON
