<br />, <br /> <br />,~ <br />.,..,., <br />..' <br /> <br />/............ <br />Floo~~ain Resolution No. 89 <br /> <br />~, <br />" <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CO~SERVATION BOARD <br />823 state Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denverf colorado 80203 <br /> <br />November 15, 1977 <br /> <br />R E ~ 0 L UTI 0 ~ <br /> <br />. ..",:~ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a floodplain inrorrnation report entitled "Flood <br />Insurance Study, Alarnosa County, colorado," which includes Rio Grande, <br />with an effective date'of January 19, 197'X, has been prepared by the <br />united States Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, under <br />contract with the'Federal Insurance Administration; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain <br />data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels Or <br />basins of the study area; and <br /> <br />-WHEREAS, the Board of county Commissioners of Alarnosa County <br />has requested the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate and <br />approve the floodplain areas as set forth in the aforesaid report; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), ColOrado Revised Statutes <br />1973, requires the Colorado Water conservation Board to assist in- <br />the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28~111, Colorado Revised <br />statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of lOcal juris- <br />dictions may provide zoning regulations for'land uses on or along any <br />storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after, designation <br />and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation~.Board; and <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />~< <br /> <br />WHEREASf Section 37-60-106(1) (c), Colorado Revised Statutes <br />1973, directs the Colorado Water CO$lservation Board to designate and <br />approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to make <br />such designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdic- <br />tions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report <br />and does hereby recOmmend to the colorado Water Conservation Board <br />that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those areas <br />inundated by a 100-year flood (intermediate regional flood) as <br />described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in said <br />report; <br />
