insurance map preparation guidelines published by the Federal Insurance Administration. 6.0 OTHER STUDIES Previous studies on the Purgatoire River, Raton Creek, and Powell Arroyo have been prepared by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers' Albuquerque office. A Flood Plain Information Report for the Purgatoire River and its tributaries in the vicinity of Trinidad, Colorado, was completed in April, 1974 (Reference 9). The peak discharges used in the study of Las Animas County have been reconciled with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District Office, because the Las Animas County discharges are different from those published in the Flood Plain Information Report for the Purgatoire River and tributaries, vicinity of Trinidad, Colorado (Reference 9). The Flood Insurance Study for Trinidad, also prepared by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, was completed in July, 1974 (Reference 10). While the Flood Plain Information Report for Trinidad provided information on Raton Creek, Powell Arroyo, and the Purgatoire River, the Trinidad Flood Insurance Study involved only the Purgatoire River. Water- surface elevations computed for this study do not correspond with those in the July 1974 Flood Insurance Study. These hydrology changes have been reconciled with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U. S. Geological Survey. The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers is in the process of revising the Trinidad Flood Insurance Study. There are no other flood study data on the other streams studied in this report. The present Flood Insurance Study is considered authoritative for purposes of the Flood Insurance Program, and presented data supersede all previous determinations. 7.0 LOCATION OF DATA Survey, hydrologic, hydraulic, and other pertinent data used in this study will be on file at the office of Gingery Associates, Inc., 2840 South Vallejo Street, Englewood, Colora6o 80110, until May 31, 1981. 32
