NO. 168 <br /> <br />\ <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />823 State centennial Building <br />1313 She!man street <br />Denver, colorado 80203 <br /> <br />Decembe! 2, 1980 <br /> <br />R E ~ 0 L U T ~ 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a floodplain info:emation report entitled "Flood <br />Hazard Information, Gunnison ana uncompahgre Rivers," dated <br />February, 1980, has been prepared by the united States Army Corps <br />of Engineers, Sacramento District, at the request of the Boards <br />of County Commissioners of Delt~ and Montrose Counties; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the flOOdplain <br />data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels <br />or basins of the study area;' ana <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Boards of county Commissioners of Delta and <br />Montrose Counties have requested the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board to designate and approve the flOOdplain areas as set forth <br />in the aforesaid report; and <br /> <br />) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the city of Delta has not requested designation <br />and approval but has no Objections to such designation and approval <br />being made for those areas outside of its corporate limits; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes <br />1973, requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in <br />the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised <br />Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local <br />jurisdictions may provide zonin~ regulations for land uses on or <br />along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after <br />designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation Board; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS. Section 37-60-106(1) (c), colorado Revised Statutes <br />1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate <br />and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to <br />make such designations available to legislative bodies of lOcal <br />jurisdictions; and ' <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and <br />does hereby recommend to the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those <br />areas inundated by a lOO-year flood (intermediate regional flood) <br />as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in <br />said report except for those Uncompahgre River floodplain areas <br />within the city of Delta affected by the 100-year floodwater <br />surface prOfile for the reach extending from station 55+00 feet <br /> <br />) <br />
