It isthefirstot <br />three flOOd plain Information volumes covering streams in Boulder <br />Counfy and was preparod In response to an application made by the <br />Denver Regional Council of Governments through the Colorado Water Con- <br />servation Board. The purpose of this re~orT Is TO identify the flood <br />halard areas in order to assist local officials and others In making <br />prudentuseofthestre<lmv<llley. <br />The basin and stre<lm characteristics, flood histories and <br />probable effects of floods greater than any of record are presented <br />sequentially In this report. Two potential floods, Intermediate <br />Regional and Standard Project, were used to represent those greater <br />than any of record but which may occur in the future. Thesetwo <br />floods are fully defined In tneGlossary and shOuld beglvenappropri- <br />ate consideration in deveioplng controls and planning for flood plain <br />construction. <br />The flood hazard areas defined by the t~o potential floods <br />are shown on the plates at the end of this report. The flooded area <br />maps show the approximafe areas that would be inundated, the prOfiles <br />show thealevations of the water surface across thevallfiY perpe n- <br />dicular to the STream, ~nd the CrOSS ~oCTion.. Indi~te the depths of <br />flooding across the flood plain. These daTa provide the bases for <br />pla~ning and appliCation of control meaSureS by local officials. <br />This report does not prooose improvoments to control <br />floods. It isprovldadto local officials for their g\Jldanca inplen- <br />nlng tho use and regulation of the flood plain and as public Infor- <br />mation regarding the flood halards.
