<br />May 25-June 7, 1989 Atlantic Cable Mine Flooding at Rico <br /> <br />Snowmelt runoff from Silver Creek, a <br />tributary to the Dolores River, entered a <br />collapsed mine shaft. A series of tunnels <br />under the town of Rico connected to the shaft <br />caused excessive ground water pressure. The resultant flood caused damage to <br />the Valley Mobile Manor parking lot near the <br />mouth of Ralston Creek at west 56th Avenue <br />and Sheridan Boulevard. The <br />golf course looked like a lake, and about 20 <br />homes at Gunbarrell Estates had basement <br />flooding.
