STATE ACTIONS AND RESPONSE <br /> <br />Several state agencies participated in the preparation, monitoring and response to the spring 1993 <br />flood threat. Agencies which played a major role included: the Governor's Office; the Executive <br />Director's Office of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources; the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board; Executive Director's Office of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs; the Colorado Office of <br />Emergency Management; and the State Engineer's Office. <br /> <br />The Flood Control and Floodplain Management Section of the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />played a major role in the following areas during the spring 1993 flood season: <br /> <br />- Field inspection of flood threatened communities, <br /> <br />- Recommendations for emergency response in the <br />event of flooding, <br /> <br />- Snowmelt and streamflow monitoring for State <br />Agencies and local communities, <br /> <br />- Flood forecasts as a result of monitoring, <br /> <br />- Field documentation of flood events e.g. Rifle, and <br /> <br />- Recommenda1ions f(lr post-mitigation activities. <br /> <br />Also, lhe CWCB slaffoflhc Flood Control and Floodplain Management Section served as members <br />of lhe State's Flood Mitigalion and Preparedness Team. In this capacity, the CWCB participated with the <br />\ I.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramcnto District; the Colorado Office of Emergency Management; the <br />Slate Engineer's Office; and lhe Colorado Geological Survey in performing flood threat assessments in <br />sev~ral Colorado west slope communities in April 1993. <br /> <br /> <br />....-~\ <br /> <br />Apticipation <br /> <br />Preparation <br /> <br />I <br />/ <br />) <br /> <br />
