In addition, the FEMA damage
survey reports also provide cost estimates associated with these storm events.
A summary of these damage estimates for Baca County are provided in Table
4.1-6.

j
J

The county road and bridge cost is an accumulated sum of material and
equipment costs associated with damages on specific road sections; no labor
costs are included in this value. The USDA-Farm Services Agency in Baca
County did not indicate that any significant damage to agriculture occurred
as a result of these floods (Lusk 1998); most of the inundation occurred over
natural grasslands.

4.1.9 Flood Hazard Mitigation

The County Commissioners' Office indicated that no formal flood mitigation
efforts were or plan to be implemented as a result of the 1997 storm events

d479jchap4-1.doc 08/13/98

4.1-11
