PREFACE

This report includes info~ation on the flood hazaPd aPea adjacent

to Coal Creek and Rock Creek in Eoulder and Weld Counties, Colorado.

Because of damages resulting from past flooding, detailed flood

hazaPd studies have been recognized as an essential item in guiding the

use of flood plains. The pu:r>pose of this report is to provide adequate

mapping and data for implementing flood plain management programs.

Included in the report aPe info~ation on past floods, flood potential,

maps, profiles, cross sections, discharge data, and recommendations for

reducing potential flood damages on the Coal Creek and Rock Creek study

aPea.

The Soil ConseY'Vation SeY'Vice conducted the technical studies and
prepared the repqrt. These seY'Vices were carried out in accordance with
the Plan of Study of May 1974.

The assistance and cooperation provided by the Colorodo Water

Conservation Board, the Ul~ban Drainage and Flood ContPOl District, the

Coal Creek Water-Users Associatimz, Boulder and Weld Counties, aPe
