Box 468
Ouray, CO 81427

Re: North Ouray Uncompahgre River Redevelopment Project

Dear Larry:

Enclosed is the report North Ouray Uncompahgre River Redevelopment Project prepared for
the Colorado Water Conservation Board and the City of Ouray. The report addresses two issues:

I. Development of the base line HEC-2 model for the 100-year flood, and;

2. Evaluation of proposed channelization between stations 659+00 and 700+00,

The development of the HEC-2 model was necessary because the original model for the
Uncompahgre River developed by A&S Consultants was not available. The proposed channeliza-
tion, which includes a fishing pond and a sediment/debris pond, will remove much of the valley
floor from the floodplain, thereby improving existing flooding conditions and allowing for other
land uses.

The report presents the approaches used to develop the hydraulic model and to size the proposed
facilities. Included in the various appendices are the HEC- 2 models, cross sections and
calculations. Also inclosed is a diskette with the two final HEC-2 models, one for the baseline
condition and one for the proposed channelization project.

Thank you for the opportunity to be of service.

Respectfully,

William P.
