<br />FLOOD INSURANCE STUDY <br />TOWN OF WELLINGTON, LARIMER COUNTY, COLORADO <br /> <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />1.1 Purpose of Study <br /> <br />This Flood Insurance Study revises and updates a previous Flood <br />Insurance Study/Flood Insurance Rate Map for the Town of <br />Wellington, Larimer County, Colorado. This information will be <br />used by the Town of Wellington to update existing floodplain <br />regulations as part of the Regular Phase of the National Flood <br />Insurance Program (NFIP). The information will also be used by <br />local and regional planners to further promote sound land use and <br />floodplain development. <br /> <br />In some states or communities, floodpLain management criteria or <br />regulations may exist that are more restrictive or comprehensive <br />than the minimum Federal requirements. This work, which <br />was completed in October 1977, covered all significant flooding <br />sources affecting the Town of Wellington. <br /> <br />The revised hydraulic analysis of Boxelder Creek was taken from a <br />1983 U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service <br />(SCS) Floodplain Management Study (Reference 1) using hydrology <br />developed by Simons, Li, and Associates (Reference 2). <br /> <br />1.3 Coordination <br /> <br />The areas <br />identified <br />contractor <br />members of <br />1976.
