Box 1575
Colorado Springs, Colorado S0901

Community: City of Colorado
Springs, Colorado
Community No.: 080060
Panels Affected: 0161 C and
0163 B

Effective Date of
This Revision:

AUG 22 1994

102-D

Dear Mayor Isaac:

This is in response to a request for a revision to the effective Flood
Insurance Study (FIS) and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) map for
your community. Specifically, this responds to a letter dated June 24, 1994,
from Mr. C. Gary Wolff, P.E., Hydrologic Engineer, Resource Consultants &
Engineers (RCE), regarding the effective Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for
the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mr. Wolff requested that we revise
the effective FIRM to show the effects of updated topographic information
along a branch of Douglas Creek South that extends north near Centennial
Boulevard from its confluence with Douglas Creek South to Garden of the Gods
Road.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with
Mr. Wolff's letters dated June 16 and June 24, 1994; with a letter dated
June 24, 1994, from Mr. John A. Gatto, Crestone Development; and with a
letter dated March 30, 1994, from Mr. Dan Bunting, Regional Floodplain
Administrator, Regional Building Department. All fees necessary to process
this Letter of Map Revision (LaMa), a total of $1,820, have been received.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown
on the effective FIRM, and have revised the FIRM to modify the floodplain
boundary delineations of a flood having a I-percent probability of being
equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along a branch of Douglas
Creek South that extends north near Centennial Boulevard from its confluence
with Douglas Creek South to Garden of the Gods Road.

This revision is based on updated topographic information that reflects the
construction of Centennial Boulevard. A hydraulic analysis, prepared by RCE
and submitted with Mr. Wolff's June 16 letter, shows that the lOO-year flood
along a branch of Douglas Creek South that extends north near Centennial
Boulevard from its confluence with Douglas Creek South to Garden of the Gods
Road is now completely contained within Centennial Boulevard. As a result of
this revision, the Special Flood Hazard Area has been shifted and is
contained within the Centennial Boulevard right-of-way.
