<br />18 <br /> <br />Reporting Results <br /> <br />. AU data is reported to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and included in their data base. <br /> <br />. MHRWP data will be included in STORET in the future. <br /> <br />, Data is presented to the local commnnities by: <br /> <br />1. local conferences and congresses <br />2. newspapers <br />3. government meetings <br />4. distributed to statellocal agencies <br />5. MHB newsletter <br /> <br />Evaluating Results <br /> <br />Water quality data is compared to data from MPCA designated least impacted streams. (Selected <br />Water Quality Characteristics of Minimally Impacted Streams; Heiskary and McCollor, 1993) <br /> <br />. Data is also compared to parameters outlined in the Clean Water Act and to Minnesota rules for <br />water. <br /> <br />. Macroinvertebrate data is reviewed by MN DNR personnel. The MHB is currently establishing and <br />sampling reference sites in the Upper Mississippi. <br /> <br />Protection Activities <br /> <br />. MHRWP students from Bagley were instrumental in the detection of several non-conforming septic <br />systems in the headwaters area. <br /> <br />. Students from Little Falls H.S. will cOlldnct all lab analysis for the Swan River Watershed Project. <br />Monthly monitoring by the students indicated high nntrient and fecal coliform levels. This <br />prompted the Morrison County Water Plan to conduct a further study of the watershed. <br /> <br />. Data collected by MHRWP participants helped target problem areas to be inclnded in the Mississippi <br />Headwaters Board Green Shores Project. <br /> <br />Extending the River Watch Program <br /> <br />. incorporating River Watch into the science curricnlum <br /> <br />. extending the program into the elementary level and the post-secondary level <br /> <br /> <br />. offer support for county water plan projects and shoreland property owner organizations. <br /> <br />American River Management Society <br />
