We feel that we have an initial under-
standing of the project and are excited about this opportunity. At this time, we under-
stand the proj"ct is for us to help the Colorado Water Conservation Board with the col-
lection of doh, field work, and hydrologic analysis of the north Walsenburg area.

In our meeting. you explained the project to us with a better definition of our capabili-
ties. You explained to us the problem with current storm sewer draining into the Holita
Ditch at a undetermined location. We understand that you would like us to collect
data including:
· historic flood problems
· maps and photographs.
We will also undertake field reconnaissance to determine:
· community needs for flood control.
· ditch and drainage structure's capacity and geometry
· ditch's ability to handle needs
Ne also expect to some hydrologic analysis of the ditch. We expect to determine
peak discharges for the hundred year and ten year flood using rational method and
TR-55. We also expect to estimate the capacity of the existing ditch using Manning's
Equation.

At the meeting we also discussed a site visit scheduled for February 16 and 17 (or the
23 and 24 in case of inclement weather). The group that will go is expected to be :vcJr
students and a faculty member, Daniel Glatter. On this visit we will do as much of the
data collection and field work that is possible at that time. We understand that \~J
will meet us at the site on Saturday the 17 if we do go at that time. We also exp6 'to
meet with Hank Summers and Don Martin during this trip. All administration arrangu-
ments will be made with Hank Summers.

~Tll
1~'
fi.
Oeo."
