<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />The procedures of combining rainfall and snowmelt frequency curves <br />are described as follows: <br />(1) select a peak discharge <br />(2) read the probabilities for rainfall and snowmelt events <br />from the respective frequency curve at the selected peak <br />discharge <br />(3) combine probabilities by the following equation <br />peT) = per) + pes) - p(r)p(s) <br />where peT) =.total probability of the selected peak discharge <br />per) = probability of the rain flood event at the selected <br />peak discharge <br />pes) = probability of the snowmelt flood event at the <br />selected peak discharge <br /> <br />RESULTS <br /> <br /> <br />During the course of the study, the results of hydrologic analysis <br /> <br />were reviewed by the Sacramento District Corps of Engineers, U.S. <br /> <br />Geological Survey, U.S. Soil Conservation Service and the Colorado <br /> <br />Water Conservation Board. The results were concurred by these <br /> <br />agencies. As indicated in Table 1 and 2, there are 10 stream <br /> <br />_gauging stations in the Animas River Basin and 14 gauging stations <br /> <br />in the Upper San Juan River Basin used to establish regional curves <br /> <br />for selected recurrence intervals in the respective basins. Table <br /> <br />3 and 4 present flood peak discharges from flood flow frequency <br /> <br /> <br />analysis for each stream gauging station. <br /> <br />Flood flow frequency curves for snowmelt, rainfall and combined <br /> <br />snowmelt and rainfall events are presented in Figures 12 through 36 <br /> <br />-16- <br />
