DRI~ft SBCTXON XXX. - PLOOD PLAXN ANALYSXS INTRODUCTION Flood plain analyses were conducted for the Blue River, Illinois Gulch, Sawmill Gulch and French Creek. This work was performed for several reasons: 1. A number of large developments adjacent to the channels have been constructed since the FEMA study. 2. Some alterations to hydraulic features such as bridges and culverts have been made since the FEMA study. 3. Since the Master Plan Boundary exists beyond the limits of the FEMA study, the outlying areas were not studied in detail under the FEMA program. Only approximate mapping of their flood plain exists. 4. The Town was interested in verifying the accuracy of the FEMA study since there has been concern expressed that in some areas it was not accurate. 5. Although Leonard Rice Water Engineers, Inc. had performed a detailed study on French Cree~ in 1975, this was never incorporated into the published FEMA mapping, only the approximate mapping has been published. Since FEMA mapping exists in many of the areas addressed in this study, the results of this analysis do not replace the FEMA desiqnated 1oo-year flood plain or base flood elevations. The information in this report does not constitute either a "Letter of Map Amendment" (LOMA) or a "Letter of Map Revision" (LOMR). If the flood plains needs to be altered in an area, then the interested party must follow the Town of Breckenridge Flood Plain Ordinance and provide documentation as required by FEMA. since the 100-year peak discharges for the channels modeled were previously designated by FEMA or the 1975 Leonard Rice study, they are the values used to represent the 100-year flood.
