Previous Reports

Numerous reports have been completed to investigate the existing flooding potential in the City of
Sterling and to study alternatives to mitigate flood damages. Some of the reports included proposed
improvements and construction cost estimates. All of the existing studies were reviewed in detail and
discussed with the project sponsors in order to determine an economical plan of improvements for the
City of Sterling. As a part of the review, construction cost estimates were updated. The following
reports were reviewed as a part of this study:

Hydrology

A detailed hydrologic analysis was not completed as a part of this report, The hydrology from
previous reports was reviewed and utilized in this study. The source for the Pawnee Creek hydrology
is the April 1992 SCS Report. Hydrology for the Sand Creek and Pioneer Ditch Watersheds was
originally completed by LeaflRCI in 1983. The hydrology for the Pioneer Ditch was updated by
Leaf/RCI in their July 1988 Report.
